Street Banners (Temporary and Wayfinding)

Printable Version Printable Version

The City of San Jose manages the Temporary Vertical Banner Program and the Wayfinding Banner Program.

Temporary Vertical Street Banner Program
An Event Organizer may request that Temporary Vertical Street Banners be installed on designated lights/poles in the City of San Jose. The Event Organizer is responsible for supplying the banners which must meet City Specifications. Department of Transportation staff will install and remove the banners and the Event Organizer will be billed after the event.

Guidelines for Approved Temporary Banners and a Temporary Banner Application will provide the detailed information. It is important to note that the banners must be fabricated to meet the exact specifications outlined in the Guidelines for Approved Banners.

Banner locations are available both within the downtown area and in other outlying areas.

You can download a Google Earth layer showing all Street Banner locations throughout San Jose. Download the ZIP file and extract the Google earth layer.

Wayfinding Banner Program
The City of San Jose desires to place permanent banners in certain locations on street light poles in the public right-of-way to enhance wayfinding in San Jose. Wayfinding banners assist the public in differentiating unique areas within San Jose and are intended to provide place identification rather that ancillary information.

Guidelines for Wayfinding Banners and a Wayfinding Banner Application will provide the detailed information. It is important to note that the banners must be fabricated to meet the exact specifications outlined in the Guidelines for Approved Banners.
